Future-proof your creative expressions with 8K capability on the EOS R5, and expand your recording and post- production possibilities: Cropping frames tighter without loss of resolution and shooting oversampled 4K for footage with finer details are just some examples. You can even extract 35.4MP stills from 8K 30p footage – almost like having 30 fps shooting capability.

Ultra-fast, near-silent burst shooting capabilities of up to 20 fps with AF/AE tracking ensure that the EOS R5 nails expected and unexpected decisive moments – perhaps even before you realize what just happened in that rapidly-evolving scene in front of you!

Achieve sharper handheld slow shutter speed shots with any EF or RF lens! First time ever on a Canon camera, the EOS R5 is equipped with a 5-axis In-Body Image Stabilizer (In-Body IS) capable of up to 8 stops* of image stabilisation, especially useful in dimly-lit situations. Video also benefits, with Movie digital IS, In-Body IS, and the optical IS working in tandem to produce seamless, steady footage.

*Up to 8-stop In-Body Image Stabilizer, subject to lens pairing and shooting conditions. Firmware update may be required.

A Technological Revolution

At the core of every game-changing camera lies a technological revolution. On the EOS R5, this is driven by a dynamic duo: the new DIGIC X image processor and a new 45-megapixel CMOS image sensor, developed exclusively for the EOS R system. Working with excellent coordination, speed and precision, they make imaging breakthroughs such as 20 FPS high-speed burst shooting, cutting-edge new AF capabilities including animal eye, face and body detection, and 8K RAW in-camera movie recording a reality.

Welcome to the Cinematic Future – 8K Resolution

The EOS R5 is engineered with powerful technologies to help professional video producers obtain high-quality footage and produce astounding cinematic works. Harness the possibilities of cropless 8K, with In-Body IS and Dual Pixel CMOS AF II in all 4K/8K modes ensuring that footage looks seamless and in-focus even with 8K of detail. Record internally in 12-bit 8K 30p RAW recording, Canon Log, or HDR PQ, or externally up to 4K 60p depending on how you want to take your footage to the limits. The rest is up to your creativity.

The sensor-shift-based In-Body Image Stabilizer (In-Body IS) on the EOS R5 corrects camera shake along 5 axes of camera movement (horizontal, vertical, yaw, pitch, roll), allowing users to capture sharper images by hand, even with a slower shutter speed. When paired with an RF lens equipped with the Optical Image Stabilizer (Optical IS), the two IS systems work in synchrony to achieve an even greater stabilisation effect, up to 8 stops’ faster. Image stabilisation also applies when using EF or RF lenses that do not have Optical IS.

The benefits of In-Body IS applies even during handheld movie shooting, where In-Body IS, Optical IS and the movie digital IS coordinate to reduce blurring and unsteady footage, even when shooting while walking.
