The new EOS RP once again inherits the new ‘RF’ mount standard, which boasts a well-balanced, large mount diameter of 54mm and short flange focal distance of 20mm which opens up new possibilities when it comes to designing lenses (particularly for fast, bright and wide angle lenses). The RF mount comes with a 12-pin connection to allow high speed communication between the camera and the lens.

EOS RP – Quality & Performance

Vertical Videos

The EOS RP features a new 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor with approx. 26.2 megapixels developed and manufactured by Canon with DIGIC 8 processor gives stunning image quality. The EOS RP has a standard ISO sensitivity range of ISO 100-40000 for stills and ISO 100-25600 in FHD (ISO 100-12800 in 4K).

Low-noise High-Sensitivity Performance

Canon EOS RP comes with an In-camera DLO that works with RF lenses with the 12 pin communication system transfers the Pre-set DLO data extremely fast to the camera which results into consideration of all kinds of lens related aberrations as per the lens mounted on the camera resulting in enhanced Sharp, Contrast images without affecting the shooting speed (using Servo AF) or the number of possible continuous shots in real time. This feature is supported by all RF lenses and EF lenses combined with mount adapter.

Dual Sensing IS/Combination IS

The Image Stabilization in EOS RP is an evolution from that of EOS DSLR cameras. The Dual Sensing IS provides 5-axis image stabilization as well as up to 5stops of effective image stabilization, when combined with the new RF lenses. The advanced IS system uses continuous data from the lens and shakes information from image sensor to tune stabilization and perform effectively regardless of the type of shake while shooting. Combination IS (IS + Movie Digital IS) especially for videos allow blur correction on lenses even without IS, the EOS RP makes creating wonderful videos effortless.

EOS RP – Evolution of Dual Pixel CMOS AF

Canon’s famous AF system the Dual Pixel CMOS AF is highly responsive at 0.05 sec.*speed in EOS RP, supports AF frame selection with up to 4,779 AF point position which achieves high speed focusing, precision and flexibility in any photo composition. The AF coverage area has been expanded to 88% of the sensor surface area, supported by RF lenses and compatible EF lenses. Low light capability of EV-5 allows shooting almost in condition where subject is not visible to human eye. Focusing at f/11 is supported throughout the entire area.

High Performance Auto Focus

In situation where the camera finds it difficult to track the eye when the subject is in motion. The New Eye Detection AF in EOS RP promptly starts focusing on subject’s eye during Servo AF resulting in impressive portraits due to precise focusing irrespective of any facial profile pose and movement

Eye Tracking with AI Servo & Movie servo AF

While taking macro photos with shallow depth of field it really becomes hard to get the entire frame in focus. Focus bracketing; a new feature of the EOS RP comes in handy to output high resolution photos with corner to corner clarity.

Corner-to-Corner Clarity

EOS RP – Cinematic 4K UHD @ 24P and more

The EOS RP supports professional use in videography by taking advantage of the stunning expression performance a full-frame camera can offer. It records smooth 4 K UHD movies recording at 24p/25p, as well as Full HD 60p/50p. Dual Pixel CMOS AF system allows Eye Detection AF to be used with the Movie servo AF function. A video snap short function lets users easily shoot short video clips of 4, 6 and 8 seconds in Full HD 30p/25p. Support for HDM 4K output (in YCC 4:2:2 8 bit signals) allows 4K footage to be recorded or displayed on an external device.

EOS RP – Ergonomics of Ease

The new Canon EOS RP, weighing only 485 grams with 3.0 inches, 1.04 million dots, vari-angle touch-screen LCD monitor, is a Compact and Light weight mirrorless camera with a magnesium alloy body which is dust and moisture proof. The new color and brightness adjustment function, in the 2.36 million dot high-resolution OLED electronic view finder with an Eye Point of Approx.22 mm allows the photographer to adjust the EVF display color separately from that of the LCD monitor. You can now charge the battery pack via a Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0 / Type-C) using the PD-E1 USB power adapter (sold separately).

New Extension grip EG-E1 (approx. 86g)

The EOS RP, comes with an Extension grip EG-E1 (approx. 86 g) as an optional gear for photographers to attach it to EOS RP which will help them to hold the camera comfortably especially while using heavy or telephoto lenses. The photographer will be able to change the battery and SD card or use a tripod even when the extension grip is attached to the camera.
