Summer’s a season that brings back the old memories of all the holidays you have taken, be it with friends or family. And capturing those memories, now a days, is something synonymous to going on holidays. But choosing the right camera could be a tedious task. You would wish if there could be one camera which is capable of capturing various kind of photography. Not only that, but it would be great if the camera was lightweight, compact and equipped to click various subjects, right from something very small to something far away.

Thus, to cater to this needs of travellers, the PowerShot SX70 HS is a perfect match. With the new DIGIC 8 Image processor and a 20.3 MP APS-C size sensors, the PowerShot SX70 HS fits the bill for most of the travellers.

Go from Macro to Wide-Angle to Telephoto Zoom

While travelling, it’s common to come across subjects that are as small as a pebble or something far away like a bird sitting on a tree. With PowerShot SX70 HS, you can now get closer to your subject with the minimum focusing distance of 0mm going up to a wide-angle at 21mm to shoot beautiful landscapes.

While zooming in, it will get you closer to your distant subject with the 65x optical zoom or with 130x super telephoto, you can capture a different expression of photography altogether, without losing details.

Track & Zoom

While capturing distant subjects, it’s very common to lose your subject in the frame which can be either due to the subject – movement or a simple camera shake. Both can result in blurred images as well.

With PowerShot SX70 HS, using the Zoom Framing Button (which is on the side of the lens barrel) to automatically track your subject and zoom in/out accordingly to maintain focus on the subject in the frame. The best part is that the placement of the button is such that one can adjust the Zoom button on the lens barrel with left hand while your right hand fingers rest on the shutter release button to capture the image.

Improved Image Stabilization (IS)

Most of the photos are taken hand held while on the move and chances of images getting blurred due to hand shake is very high. PowerShot SX70 HS with the Dual Sensing IS system accurately detects the camera shake and stabilizes the image up to 5 shutter speed stops’. This system can help to minimize the likelihood of blurry images caused by body movement as well.

Better Movie Shooting Capabilities

Apart from the stunning 20.3MP still images, the PowerShot SX70 HS comes with 4K video-recording capability which lets you record videos with stunning clarity at four times the resolution of full HD. DIGIC 8 processor also make it possible record the video footage at high speed. Along with that it also supports a frame grab option from the 4K footage, imagine capturing a high definition video and at the same time be able to extract the most breath-taking moment from the footage as a high-definition still image. This means, if you want to shoot movies and click pictures together, frame grab option makes it possible to capture important moments in both movies and still images easily. Other than 4K movies, frame grabbing in Full HD or HD movies is not possible. The 4K capabilities also include creating time-lapse movies format by simply changing the camera settings. An optional external microphone (Ø3.5mm) is also provided for serious audio recording to match the high-quality video you’ll capture.

Style Settings to Turn Up Your Creativity

While you are on the go, it is very difficult to change manual setting every time. The PowerShot SX70 HS offers a feature which is generally seen in DSLR called the Style Setting. It gives you an option of choosing your favourite colour setting with six different settings to choose from, which results in wide variety of image creation. Furthermore, in Standard mode it is possible to adjust sharpness and contrast. Now you can further create your favourite images, instead of just selecting pre-sets on the camera.

Camera Ergonomics

Clicking pictures during the day time using the LCD monitor, sometimes become very difficult due to the bright sunlight which makes the LCD look bright. Also, while capturing telephoto shots a lot of concentration is required in order to get the right composition.  The PowerShot SX70 HS is equipped with a full-fledged Electronic Viewfinder (EVF), which with the optimized button layout and design makes it comfortable to look through the viewfinder. The large-sized eyecup compliments the shooting experience. The PowerShot SX70 HS has evolved into a full-fledged design with the style of EOS.

Connectivity with Smart devices

These days it has become so easy to share pictures while you are on the go instantly with family and friends. With so many beautiful moments captured during your vacation, it would be a waste not to share your images. PowerShot SX70 HS comes with a built-in Wi-Fi feature, which makes it easy to transfer your images to your smartphones via the Canon Camera Connect app.

In addition to the automatic photo transfer to smartphones, when connected to Wi-Fi, the PowerShot SX70 HS also supports Remote Live View shooting via Canon Camera Connect app on your smartphones.  Along with viewing and transferring images from the camera, now transferring 4K movies is also supported.

All in all, the PowerShot SX70 HS is a lightweight multi-purpose compact camera with 4K video recording, which gives you the flexibility to click high resolution images as well as high definition videos. It is a really handy camera to have when travelling!
